All data processing in Data My Chat occurs entirely within your browser. No conversation data is ever transmitted to external servers.

Data Handling

Data My Chat is designed with privacy as a foundational principle. Here is what the extension does and does not do:

• All formatting and conversion of chat conversations happens locally in your browser.
• No conversation data, exported files, or user content is sent to any external server.
• The extension does not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics of any kind.
• Exported data is saved only to your local device (as a downloaded file) or to your clipboard.
• No user accounts, sign-ins, or remote authentication are required or used.

Chrome APIs Used

The extension uses the following Chrome APIs, all of which operate locally on your device:

• storage.sync — Stores your export formatting preferences (such as label names and frontmatter options). This data stays within Chrome’s built-in sync storage and is never sent to any third-party server.
• downloads — Saves exported files directly to your local device via Chrome’s download manager. No data passes through external services.
• clipboardWrite — Copies formatted conversation text to your system clipboard. The data remains entirely on your device.
• None of these APIs transmit your data to any external endpoint. They operate solely within the boundaries of your browser and local system.

Third-Party Platforms

Data My Chat reads conversation data from AI chat platforms (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and DeepSeek) using their internal page APIs while you are on those sites. This is a read-only operation:

• The extension reads conversation content from the platform you are currently using.
• The extension does not send any data back to those platforms or to any other external service.
• The extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of these platforms.

Updates to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be included with new extension releases. This post and date will be updated with the changes.
